Good morning / afternoon / evening, my name is Raquel Monge, Kombo as an artistic firm, I am 24 years old and I am an illustrator.
Since I was a child I always liked to draw, until when I was 15 years old this became my main form of expression; I found a free place, safe and without rules, where to be what you feel; and so it continues to this day.
Who I am?

The main sources of inspiration throughout my life have been Tim Burton, Disney in films such as "101 Dalmatians" with sketchy appearance and "Hercules" for its geometry, the chaotic comics of Ibañez, and the fantasy and color of Studio Ghibli.
Currently my biggest source of references is Instagram, an endless gallery of styles, areas and roots, where I am not only inspired by edges (some of my favorites: @hubuluck_illustration, @mihohiranoart and @brockhofer), but also by editorial makeup artists, designers of fashion and even doll makers (@popovysisters)
Inspiration

Regarding my training, when I finished my baccalaureate in arts, I completed the Higher Degree in Characterization and Professional Makeup at the CES school (Madrid), and followed by the Higher Degree in Illustration at the Toledo School of Arts.
Training

The work carried out as a characterizer in different audiovisual projects and my current interest in that world, have allowed me to acquire knowledge about the creation of characters, anatomy, dimension and especially the coloring of the different layers of the skin, which is very useful in the illustration.
As an illustrator I have worked doing personal commissions, I did an illustration project for a poetry book and I have participated in the exhibitions: in the El Greco museum (Toledo 2019) and Ilustrato (Toledo 2019).
Works

This last year 2021 I have continued to do personal commissions, but above all I have focused on expanding my training through testing different styles, textures and tools, and with courses from Doméstika such as: "Factory of illustrated characters" by the illustrator Patricio Betteo, " Geometric illustration with volume ”by Edgar Rozo or“ The art of sketching ”by Mattias Adolfsson.

Currently I am looking to work in a company as an illustrator, gain experience, contribute everything I can offer as an artist and continue training, since I believe that illustration is something where you never stop growing and learning.
